He picked us up in his posh car and had his own personal driver lol! And took us would you believe to the shangrila hotel for omg… An all you can eat buffet of Malaysian, Indian, Chinese, and Japanese foods…….. Wow.
It wasn’t for westerners, we were one of the only ones there so it was soooo nice, they had alll yumcha things including pork buns and turnip cakes, sushi sashimi, cold Asian salads, Satay sticks with peanut sauce, curries„, and wow. And so many desserts, creme brûlée spoons, a massive chocolate fondoo ? (bad spelling), with fruits and crap I could go on all night. Way to spend the first night as a modest backpacker!!

Today we went to the bukit caves, pretty much a Hindu shrine with a trillion steps we had to walk up, and got blessed and everything. Was so interesting. Had a monkey chase me cause I ha a banana the monk gave us, lol it was gags. Then went to a butterfly garden and took some cool pics,”.
All of this was done whilst being driven around in karls friends private car… Luxury!
We then met up with him for lunch at an amazing Chinese restaurant with countless dishes of awesome food, one of my favs being vinegar soaked lotus root would you believe!

People ride around on bikes and ring different bells which mean different things, eg. one means massage, one means icecream, and one means something else, cute.
THERE ARE SO MANY MOTORBIKES, trying to cross the road is hilarious… about 30 pass you within 30 seconds and you just walk really slowly and they dodge you, if you run you’re screwed.
Oh and my hair caught on fire yesterday a tiny bit, no clues how that happened but it was funny.

Food was as amazing as usual, we had this absolutely delicious street food about 3 doors up from us in the laneway that was in the kitchen of a family, it was fried rice bits, kind of like minced rice almost like a rice cake, joined together with egg to make a pancake thing, with spring onion and cashews on top. The sauce was soy with chilli and fresh grated papaya… Omg it was good. There are pics of it on fb I put up for Poppy.
My 19 year old sister Birdie is backpacking around South East Asia for the first time, and her James-Joyce-for-the-MSN-generation stream of consciousness emails keep cracking me up. She has very sweetly been taking photos of the food and putting them up on Facebook for my benefit: I keep telling her she should start a food blog, called The Least Pretentious Food Blog Ever.
